We work alongside childcare providers, community leaders, and partners to improve access to safe, stable, and affordable childcare across Bristol TN/VA. By strengthening childcare systems, we help parents stay employed while creating nurturing environments for children from infancy through adolescence.
Our focus includes:

- Strengthening year-round out-of-school programming
- Reducing the long-term impacts of childhood trauma (ACEs)

K-Ready Kids
Kindergarten Readiness & Early Literacy
Our K-Ready Kids initiative helps incoming kindergarten students begin school prepared and confident. Each year, children across Bristol TN, Bristol VA, and the East Zone of Sullivan County receive literacy-focused materials that encourage reading at home and help families build home libraries.
Early literacy builds:
- Vocabulary and comprehension
- Parent-child engagement
- Confidence entering school
A strong start in kindergarten sets the tone for lifelong learning.
Afterschool Programs
Safe & Enriching Out-of-School Time
Out-of-school hours are critical. Through collaboration with local partners and the Bristol Afterschool Network (BAN), we strengthen access to safe, structured, and enriching after-school and summer programs.
These efforts include:
- Provider training and capacity building
- Collaboration across youth-serving organizations
- Community-wide quality improvement initiatives
Community feedback consistently emphasized the importance of at-risk children and expanded access to services. Strengthening after-school programming directly answers that call.
Professional Development
Mentoring & Youth Development Through Trusted Partners
